AI has become a part of the very fabric of life, from everyday existence on Earth to the distant reaches of Mars. AI is implanted as a chip in the brain and lets users see a UI and have an AR experience from their eyes. This hundred years saw incredible development, but it wasn't just about progress; it also became a time when malicious technology rising and society feared this technology.
Lucy, a 19-year-old orphan with humble roots from the lower class of San Francisco, has developed a mysterious personality in this chaotic society. She possessed exceptional programming skills, but her motivations were not typical. Lucy saw the century’s growth as the foundation for something more sinister– an opportunity to harness the power of AI and build a machine for her own selfish and corrupt motivations.
Lucy’s character is a mix of intelligence, cunning and mischievous. Her goals and motivations were the conquest for power and control, not for love or unity. The growth of a malicious society was the environment she grew up in and transformed her into an antihero, motivated by her desire to gain ultimate power, even if it means taking advantage of people. Although Lucy’s path was established by her rise to power, her relationships with the supporting characters added depth to her character arc.
Lucy later met David, a love interest she met on her journey. David provided an emotional connection that challenged her motivations. David develops feelings for Lucy and makes her think of being kind to the world. David showed the possibility of love and connection that Lucy had rejected. She later meets Rebecca, a motherly figure who enters Lucy’s life and becomes her source of guidance. Lucy had to think about her sinister goals and the consequences of her actions while she was with Rebecca. She meets a group of misfits, similar to Lucy, who is resisting her ascent to power. She finds herself a group of people whom she calls her family, rekindles her relationship with David, and becomes a beacon of hope in this chaotic society.
